Up until the end of 2021, we had access to the accounts that started a given episode or movie, but they have since shifted to hours viewed. Here is a look at the top hits that most streamed seasons on Netflix has ever published as of June 2023 using those hours watched.

Netflix has been revolutionizing the global content consumption landscape with its impressive lineup of beloved original shows. On June 20, 2023, as most streamed seasons on Netflix introduced its updated viewership metrics, Season 1 of Wednesday soared to become the streaming platform’s most-watched English-language series. It surpassed Season 4 of Stranger Things and secured the second position, right after Season 1 of Squid Game, which still holds the top spot.

Previously, Netflix had been quite secretive about show statistics and viewing hours. However, due to increasing demand for transparency and feedback from critics, they decided to release a list of highly successful shows. Since November 2021, the streaming giant has been unveiling a weekly most streamed seasons on netflix list of 40 titles that have achieved significant viewership numbers across both film and TV, encompassing both English and non-English languages.

To determine a show’s popularity, each season of a series is considered as a distinct entity.
