digital marketing
Digital marketing is the act of promoting and selling products and services by leveraging online marketing tactics such as social media marketing, search marketing, and email marketing.

hen you get down to it, digital marketing is simply marketing.

It’s how today’s businesses are getting their message in front of their best prospects and customers.

Rule #1 in marketing is to make the right offer at the right time and in the right place. Today, your customers are online: hanging out in social media, staying updated on news sites and blogs, and searching online when they have a need.

Digital marketing puts you in those same channels, so your best prospects can see you, learn more about you, and even ask questions to learn more about you and your products or services.

If you’re new to digital marketing, it may feel overwhelming to think about mastering all the online marketing tactics used in digital marketing.

We get that…

And yes, there are different tactics you’ll need to learn. But they all work together to create a foundation for your business: attracting prospects, nurturing relationships, and making offers your audience will appreciate and respond to.

Let’s take a closer look at how that happens.

How Does Digital Marketing Work?

In many ways, digital marketing is no different than traditional marketing. In both, smart organizations seek to develop mutually beneficial relationships with prospects, leads, and customers.

But digital marketing has replaced most traditional marketing tactics because it’s designed to reach today’s consumers.

As an example…

Think about the last important purchase you made. Perhaps you purchased a home, hired someone to fix your roof, or changed paper suppliers at your office.

Regardless of what it was, you probably began by searching the Internet to learn more about available solutions, who provided them, and what your best options were. Your ultimate buying decision was then based on the reviews you read, the friends and family you consulted, and the solutions, features, and pricing you researched.

Most purchasing decisions begin online.

That being the case, an online presence is absolutely necessary—regardless of what you sell.

The key is to develop a digital marketing strategy that puts you in all the places your followers are already hanging out, then using a variety of digital channels to connect with them in a multitude of ways…

…Content to keep them updated with industry news, the problems they’re facing, and how you solve those problems…

…Social media to share that content and then engage with them as friends and followers…

…Search engine optimization (SEO) to optimize your content, so it will show up when someone is searching for the information you’ve written about…

…Advertising to drive paid traffic to your website, where people can see your offers…

…And email marketing to follow up with your audience to be sure they continue to get the solutions they’re looking for.

When you put all these pieces together, you’ll end up with an efficient, easy-to-operate digital marketing machine. And while it looks intimidating to build that machine from scratch, it’s as simple as learning and integrating one digital marketing tactic at a time.

Which is why we’ve put together this guide: To help you build or refine your own digital marketing plan without the false starts and missteps that come with doing it alone.

Trends In ICON Design

The icon design industry has come a long way over the past decade and is reaching new heights all the time, as startups and companies realize the importance and potential upside to investing in this area.

Below, we’re going to take a look at five exciting icon design trends that look set to continue throughout 2019.

First, to put it into perspective how far icon design has progressed, here are a few examples of the best icon trends from the past few years.

Complimentary Color Gradients

Despite the popularity of flat design, Gradients are making a comeback in user interfaces, particularly in icons.

The use of harsh linear gradients was a little too much when Apple first introduced them in iOS 7, but since then designers have developed a taste for implementing them once again.

Hand-Drawn

In various forms, hand-drawn iconography has come and gone over the last decade. A number of designers are showing just how effective and appealing hand-drawn style icons can be when executed skillfully.

They succeed in providing satisfying contrast to the clean and structured layout of an interface.

Staggered Gradients

taggered gradients are a very recent trend and one certainly to keep an eye on through 2017. They combine the subtlest smooth gradients with brighter, staggered gradients, providing both depth and visual interest.

Ryan Putnam’s example below is a perfect execution of this style and provides an insight into the colors and direction we can expect from other designers this year.

Stars and Speckles

A prevalent trend of last year was the styling of icons with subtle surrounding shapes. As UI designers find more and more creative ways to implement this effect, it continues to grace the icon design industry into 2017.

The effect succeeds in drawing attention to an icon and framing it in a neat and visually impressive way.

Depth

Google’s Material Design guidelines show no signs of regressing as icon designers too, now begin to adapt their styles to reflect Google’s vision.

In its simplest form, the trend includes adding depth through subtle shadows, overlapping elements, and bright impactful colors throughout.

Finished

It will be interesting to see which of these trends continue to gain traction in 2017, and which new icon design styles develop.

Authorities in China have imposed indefinite travel restrictions on tens of millions of people across 11 cities in an unprecedented effort to contain the spread, as hospitals at the epicenter of the outbreak struggle to handle a surge in new patients.

The virus, which was first discovered in the city of Wuhan in December, has spread to every province in China, except the remote autonomous regions of Qinghai and Tibet.

Another 180 cases of the virus were confirmed in Hubei, said the provincial health authority. This raises the total number of confirmed Wuhan coronavirus cases to more than 1,200 in mainland China.

The weeklong Lunar New Year holiday, which began Friday, has led to concerns that the outbreak could quickly accelerate, as hundreds of millions of people travel across the country to visit friends and relatives.

Wuhan, the largest and most populous city in central China, was placed under lockdown Thursday, while public transport has been suspended in 10 neighboring cities. Numerous other measures and restrictions on public gatherings have also been implemented in the region. More than 30 million people could be affected.

Scientists are working to develop a vaccine capable of stopping the spread of a mysterious new coronavirus that has infected thousands of people, mostly in China.

Government scientists in China, the United States and Australia, as well as those working at Johnson & Johnson, Moderna Therapeutics and Inovio Pharmaceuticals are all working quickly to develop a vaccine.

The hunt began Jan. 10, when Chinese scientists posted the genetic makeup of the virus on a public database. The next morning, researchers at the National Institutes of Health’s Vaccine Research Center in Maryland went to work. Within hours, they had pinpointed the parts of the genetic code that could be used to make a vaccine.

Historically, vaccines have been one of the greatest public health tools to prevent disease. But even as technology, genomics and global coordination have all improved, allowing researchers to move at top speed, vaccine development remains an expensive and risky process.

Hong Kong’s leader, Carrie Lam, announced a range of measures to limit the spread of the coronavirus yesterday — but for some local medical workers, it’s not enough.

The Hospital Authority Employees Alliance (HAEA), a public medical union, criticized Lam for exaggerating the effectiveness of measures that are only “slightly more constructive” than before.

“The government should fully prevent all non-crucial and unnecessary passengers flow from China to Hong Kong,” said HAEA in a statement, adding that there was still “a considerable distance from our goal of a full-scale preventive measures.”

A logo represents the face of the company that’s why it is most important branding investment when you’re starting up a new business. If people connect with your branding, the likelihood is that they will open up to whatever you are offering them. A logo design should not be too hard ,Instead it should be exciting and fascinating. Here at 4slash, we have designed logos for different companies in very innovating way. A logo should be simple, scalable, impactful, versatile and most importantly relevant to your business practices.
Here we are bringing few tips to ensure your logo seems professional and eye catching and which should hold a story in itself too.

Nothing Beat simplicity

Simple logos have a unique way of being imprinted in one’s memory and eye catching. What’s that one thing that Apple, Coca-Cola, Nike and McDonalds have in common? Well, aside from being highly successful international corporations, all are highly identifiable and easy to remember.

KEEP IT EXCLUSIVE

It is very important to keep your business logo unique and distinctive as it could not confused with other company’s logo. It is wise to take an idea from successful other businesses but make sure you never mimic them as copycats will never be remembered. While designing your brand logo always keep it mind to avoid stock images from internet as it would be highly risky as other companies might be using them.

COLOR STRATEGY

Color choosing is very important task while designing your logo. As your business grows this logo has to appear onto your other important elements like letterhead, business card, and landing pages. Color nuance the message you want to convey about your business so its selection should be accordingly. You would be surprised to know what colors show:
Red – Excitement, Boldness, Hunger
Orange – Friendliness, Cheerfulness
Yellow – Optimism, Confidence
Green – Peace, Nurturing, Freshness
Blue – Calmness, Strength, Security
Purple – Imagination, Creativity
Black – Tradition, Sophistication, Authority

TARGETED AUDIENCES

Determining the target audience is the key factor for increasing your sales throughout your business strategy and practices.it should be based on the demographic and psycho graphic information. Demographic information includes the gender, age, location, income, ethnic background etc. Whereas psycho graphic information covers all the information related to attitude, behavior, lifestyle, hobbies and so on. It is suggested to design your logo in accordance with the age group of the potential audience of your product or service.

YOUR LOGO SHOULD REFLECT YOUR BUSINESS

Your company’s Logo should be design in such a way that it could tell people the name of the company and should also represents your business too. One of the reason behind many successful brands is its logo, like Nike represents the Greek goddess of victory whereas Swoosh reflects the speed and other qualities a shoes should have while wearing it .Your brand should give a clear picture of what you can do for your consumer. Ultimately it should be the symbol that would be in harmony with the graphic in order to optimize the brands first impression.

Animated video is a fetching instrument that can help you tell your story more in a big picture. According to the survey 65% of the people are visual learner and 90% of the information is visually transmitted to the brain. According to molecular biologist John Medina, vision is our most dominant sense, taking up half of our brain’s resources. And visual information is processed 60,000x faster than text. See for yourself: which of the two images is easier to comprehend?

At the time, Facebook averages more than 4 billion video streams every day. According to the picture superiority effect that based on the notion that “human memory is extremely sensitive to the symbolic modality of presentation of event information that’s why Pictures and images are more likely to remember than words.

Here’s some statistics that will make you want to use more video in your marketing:

 • Including video on a landing page can increase conversions by 80%
 • After watching a video, 64% of users are more likely to buy a product online
 • 1/3 of all online activity is spent watching video
 • 50% of executives look for more information after seeing a product/service in a video
 • YouTube users watch more than 3 billion hours of video per month, according to YouTube.
Video increases sales

Video can also lead directly to sales. Studies shows that 74% of users who watched an explainer-video about a product subsequently bought it. Video content is likely to engage us and ignite emotions. Mark Schaefer, the Executive Director of Schaefer Marketing Solutions said: The new era demands a focus on ignition, not just content, on trust, not just traffic, and on the elite people in your audience who are spreading and advocating your content.

Keep Your Videos Short

When we talk about elite people in the audience, You Tubers have become the most powerful social media figure to promote your brand. So, if you are serious about content marketing, you must be serious about video, and better start crafting your exciting product 1 minute long HD video by contacting 4slash.

VIDEO APPEALS TO MOBILE USERS
Video and mobile go hand in hand. 90% of consumers watch videos on their mobile. From Q3 of 2013, mobile video views have grown more than 233 percent. YouTube reports mobile video consumption rises 100% every year. Since people like to watch videos on the go, and the number of smartphone users is growing, your video audience keeps getting bigger and bigger.

ANIMATION KEEPS VIEWER’S ATTENTION

Internet users have short attention spans and will only spend this much time on a video or an article. It sparks conversations and makes your audience want to follow the story. Besides, nowadays people are used to intrusive marketing ads. Often they just see through all the white noise the ads create. Animation, however, is less known to be a marketing instrument. So people are more likely to pay attention to animated video than to traditional ads.

Animation Simplifies Complex Topics

Animated video brings concepts to life that text or live videos can’t. Think about it: you can make your characters talk all you want, fly, or travel in time. With the help of animation, you can show how mechanisms and processes work.

A great example of using animation for explanation is TED-Ed .If you are not signed up to their YouTube channel yet, it’s just about time. It has over 3 million subscribers and is one of the most popular educational channels on YouTube. Most videos created by the team use animation. It simplifies otherwise difficult topics like how the food you eat affects your brain or the physics of the “hardest move” in ballet.

Animation Is Relatively Cheap to Produce:

One of the major advantages of using animation for your social media channels is that it is less expensive than live videos. Video production would involve spending thousands of dollars. Searching for a spokesperson, actors, shooting and cutting the film. Instead, you just need a fraction of this effort to create a perfect animated explainer video.4slash is providing 1 minute long HD video in affordable rates.

The post Here’s How to Market Your Startup Well Before You Launch appeared first on 4slash.

]]>
Turning your great idea into reality always feels like the most difficult step in getting your startup off the ground
( Brand Launch )– until you realize that nobody beyond your family and close friends knows about your amazing product or service.

You’ve awaited this moment for months, maybe years. You started with an idea for a highly useful product or service, then went through countless iterations of your idea, refining it to near perfection. Now, your product is waiting to ship, your doors are ready to open and you’re crossing your fingers that your modest production speed and limited staff will be able to keep up with what you can only imagine will be an overwhelming demand.

This difficult lesson evades many aspiring entrepreneurs: The success of your startup is limited by the number of potential customers who know about it. About half of all startups fail after five years, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. To avoid that outcome, you have to grow your customer base.

Ideally, you’ll market your startup well before you’re open for business. Building a brand takes time and care, and it’s much easier to construct a thoughtful strategy when you’re not hemorrhaging money on rent, payroll, utilities and other overhead costs. In reality, however, your new business is likely strapped for cash.

In the race to take your product to market, you may find it enticing to focus on the quick wins instead of the need to build a foundation for long-term success. According to his post on the blog Startups.co, Roy Morejon, president and co-founder of digital marketing agency Enventy Partners wrote, “Short-term wins absolutely exist, but instead of spending time and money searching for them, early-stage companies should formulate repeatable, scalable marketing techniques.”

You should be focusing on the following basics to increase exposure in a sustainable way.

1. Define your brand.

Because you’re starting with a clean slate, now is the perfect time to find your voice and establish what your brand is all about. Your brand should reflect your company values and do so in a way that relates to customers personally and makes them want to be associated with you.

Resist the urge to imitate competitors that you perceive as successful. They started out just like you, so you should focus on differentiating your business instead of assimilating it to the industry. Ultimately, your branding will be one of the main reasons consumers choose your product over a competitor’s.

2. Reach your audience in smart ways.

To really connect with people, you’ll need to meet them where they spend their time. Identify those hangout spots, whether they’re online or IRL (in real life) and place your messaging there.

Offer valuable content to individuals in your audience, and identify influencers who can help spread the word about your brand. For example connects brands with the 4slash who are natural and effective influencers for younger crowds.

That’s why many brands utilize their reach to amplify messaging to millennial and Gen Z audiences. Find out how to leverage unique influencers for your own business, and you’ll be surprised by the effects.

3. Craft an SEO strategy.

After clearly defining your target audience, figure out what keywords they’re searching for. Your keyword list will help direct traffic to your site’s landing page, your blog and your social media pages, all of which should all be highly relevant to your brand. While it’s nice to win traffic from highly competitive keywords, instead start by targeting keywords with low competition and lots of traffic.

Define your idea of a successful campaign, whether that be in terms of newsletter signups, white paper downloads or product purchases; and measure your efforts against that monthly benchmark.

Marketing a startup is tough — you’re operating with a limited budget, and you can’t always bring in experts to help. If you strategize for the long term, you’ll have a much better chance of being successful. Start with these tips, and put them into practice before you launch. If you put in the marketing spadework beforehand, you’ll be able to enjoy the reward of watching your business grow.

Are you the type of person who just wants to rip the cover off your dear, sweet 2001 Xbox and see how it all ticks? Ever wanted to smash open a Game Boy? Lift the lid on an Atari 2600?

Shot by photographer and lifelong gamer Evan Amos, The Game Console: A Photographic History from Atari to Xbox does exactly that, as a visual history of video game hardware released by San Francisco-based publishing company No Starch Press.

Amos didn’t initially set out to make a book peeking inside video game consoles. In fact, he first started out valiantly documenting video game hardware for Wikipedia, because if you’ve ever tried to look for high-quality, public domain images of consoles on there, it ain’t pretty.

After updating as many Wikipedia photos as he could with his Nikon D7000 and a D7100 DSLR and a homemade studio table, Amos shifted focus in 2014 to his own ambitious project: a high-resolution photo archive of video game consoles for the public domain called the Vanamo Online Game Museum.

Funding the project on Kickstarter with a cool ,000, Amos started acquiring quite the large collection of consoles, through his own money and that supplied by crowdfunding.

“When I first started the project of documenting video game hardware for Wikipedia, I only had a few systems myself, and turned to collectors for help with the rest,” he told Mashable. “After a while I raised money through Kickstarter to buy my own systems, so I could create more in-depth galleries for different consoles that included breakdowns and motherboard shots.”

After successfully funding his Kickstarter project, Amos was approached by San Francisco publisher No Starch Press to create a book based on his photos. According to Amos, “it didn’t take me long to accept the offer.”

What took much longer was deciding on exactly what book to create. “My first idea for the book was dense and encyclopedia-ish, but after a while it was apparent that it was simply too much work for one person to create, and so the book was rebooted into its current form, which is picture-heavy with minimal write-ups,” said Amos.

“I’m pretty happy with the final product, and I like to imagine the book as if you were walking into a museum, and you’d be seeing all of these systems in displays with the short write-up talking about their history.”

Amos spent a significant amount of time and money tracking down rare, older consoles, like the Commodore CDTV launched in 1991, and Tandy’s Memorex Video Information System launched in 1992.

“Most of what you see in the book is what I actually have in my apartment, except for the case of super rare consoles or prototypes. Stuff that’s missing from the book, like the Apple II and ZX Spectrum, are example of things that I don’t have, so I wasn’t able to include them.

“It can be very difficult for me to get older consoles, because I’m looking for something that’s both in really good physical condition and a price I can pay, so sometimes I wait literal years to pick them up. A couple of systems were very late additions to the book, such as the Memorex VIS and Commodore CDTV, because I only acquired right before the book’s deadline.”

So, having sifted through the last few decades of console history, what’s been the most significant change in design, in Amos’ experience?

“When you look through the book, it’s a lot easier to see the various phases that consoles have gone through over the decades,” he said. “The second-gen systems such as the Atari 2600 and Intellivision have lots of fake woodgrain and take some inspiration from home stereo equipment.

“Later Japanese consoles emphasize ‘fun’ designs, then make their way to ‘cool’ designs, and now everything is mostly minimalist black boxes.”

With so many different (and many legendary) consoles featured in the book, it’s hard for Amos to pick a favorite — but he gave it a try.

“As far as my current favorite, I really love the Xbox One X right now since it’s such a powerhouse, but in terms of a legacy system, I would say the Super Nintendo,” he said. “I was ten when it came out and I got really into games such as Earthbound, Soul Blazer, Final Fantasy VI, and Chrono Trigger growing up. So many games from that system are ones that I still try to revisit every few years, or keep their soundtracks on my phone.”
